Halloween is right around the corner and it is time to start preparing for all of our Halloween parties! When preparing for a board, especially around the holidays, we love to find simple ways to customize the board and make it unique to each individual event! There are so many unique and different ways to customize each of these boards, and it is a phenomenal way to wow your guests at your next event!

Brie Cutouts:

Brie Cutouts are a unique and simple way to customize your board – and there are so many fun ideas that you can incorporate into your board without spending hours shopping for decor! All you need is a wheel of brie and a cookie cutter of your choice.

To start, pick out your cookie cutter of choice! You have the creative freedom to find any design that you think would go with the theme/style of your board! Some fun ideas for Halloween include: a pumpkin, ghost, spider web, etc! I have found a few of my favorites and included them on our Amazon Storefront available HERE to make your search for the perfect cookie cutter easier!

Next, it is time to get your brie! It is important to ensure that you get a full wheel of brie, rather than a wedge, because you will need the wheel to execute your design. To start, center your cookie cutter in the middle of your wheel of brie. Next, press gently, pushing the cookie cutter into the wheel of brie. Once the cookie cutter has been pushed 1-2 inches into the brie, carefully remove the cookie cutter. Then, use a butter or pairing knife to remove the center of the brie where the cookie cutter made an imprint. Lastly, fill that space with your favorite jam or spread (preferably a bright or noticeable color!) and you are ready to serve!

Pro Tip: I would suggest getting a wheel of brie from Costco or Sam’s Club – you want to make sure you are getting a full wheel of brie that is big enough to fit an average sized cookie cutter!

Pumpkins:

Believe it or not, LIVE pumpkins are a great addition to your next charcuterie board! Depending on the size of your board, large or mini pumpkins are a great, natural edition to a charcuterie board! Especially if your style is light whites, neutral, or a more natural look – pumpkins are a great addition to add color and texture to every board! Personally, I love to include mini white pumpkins to my fall charcuterie boards, because their bright white color adds a whole new element to the board, while also adding a unique fall twist!

Skeletons, Spiders, and all things Spooky!

There are so many fun, SPOOKY decor pieces that can be used to add a mysterious look to your board! Here are some of my personal favorites:

Skeletons & Candlesticks:

Mini skeletons are always a fun edition! There are countless ways to incorporate these into your board. Finding decorations that add a height and texture can make a world of a difference.

Candlesticks add a new, unique height to the board, and they can also be lit while serving to add distinctive lighting to your overall board!

Spiders & Spider Webs:

Small plastic spiders/webs are a simple and cost effective way to add decor specific for the holiday, and they are great for filling up small spaces that you need to fill on your board! Garnishes are often used to fill in those little extra spots throughout your board, so treat small decorations like these in the same way you would with garnishes!

Holiday Candies:

Another simple garnish idea is to include various small Halloween candies, like candy corn, pumpkins, or gummy eyeballs to your board! If you are going for a traditional Halloween themed board, adding these spooky candies will add a frightening element!
