You may or may not have seen the trend that has suddenly taken over social media- Jarcuterie!
Instead of having one big grazing table for your guests at your event, you can provide each guest with their own individual jar or “cone” with all of the parts of a charcuterie board inside. The idea of having individual servings for each guest comes with a lot of benefits! For starters, it helps you as the host control how much people eat at your event! Many people hosting big events, like weddings, choose to lean more towards individual servings, because it ensures that there is enough of the “board” for each person, by creating an individual serving for each person! There are so many fun ways to present these works of art and this allows for you to be creative! You can use mini mason jars, cones, or serving cups to build your jarcuterie in! Depending on the theme of your event and your other decor, you can choose to go with the look of traditional mason jars, or you can go with the rustic look of the brown cones or cups! I have attached an Amazon list below to some of my suggestions for the serveware, and you can choose what best fits your event!
When filling these cones or jars, it is important to make sure that you have enough food to satisfy your guest, but not overfeed them! These cones fill fast, so we are going to start with the meat and cheese! I have included the link to my favorite bamboo picks that I use in all my charcuterie cups! I include three slices of salami or pepperoni on the first stick! You will want to fold your slice of salami in half then fold again into a quarter. You will do this with all three slices and then put them on your bamboo stick!
For my three cheeses included on my next stick, I typically choose three semi-hard or semi soft cheeses that I know are fan favorites! The density of the cheese is important because if it’s a very hard cheese, it will crumble. On the other hand, a very soft cheese will fall off of the toothpick. Because we have to limit the variety of how many cheeses we can include- I like to make sure that I carefully choose the cheeses that I’m choosing are well liked by many. My favorites to include are Trader Joe’s Dill Havarti, Tillamook Extra Sharp Cheddar, and Jarlsberg! I also like to include a slice of manchego in the cup as well!
Before we put our meat and cheese sticks in the cups, I would suggest putting a bigger item in the bottom of the cone, cup, or jar to help make it a bit taller and make the food stand out more! I typically add a clump of grapes or a slice of baguette in the bottom to add height to the cup!
Now that we have our meat and cheese sticks, place those in the cup and fill the rest of the cup with your favorite items! Here are some of my suggestions:
- A Strawberry/Raspberry/Blueberry/Grape
- Slices of Cucumber
- Walnuts/Almonds/Cashews
- Chocolate Covered Nuts/Fruits
- Breadstick/Cracker
- Green Olives/Black Olives/Pickles
Lastly, top off your cone or jar with a touch of rosemary, thyme, or basil to add some color and texture to your cones! Get creative and use fun jars, cups, or cones! Make sure to tag us on Instagram @charcuteriecollective with your jarcuterie creation, so we can see what you have created!
